There is an incompatibility between Antenna Genius Firmware version 4.1.1 and the TGXL version 1.1.20 and earlier. As of this writing, there are also software defects in AG v4 causing other network issues.
The solution as of this date is to Downgrade the Antenna Genius back to v3.1.5.
Since version 4 and version 3 use different database structures, the downgrade requires a special procedure:
Downgrade Antenna Genius from v4.x to v3.1.5 firmware
(based on the SO2R model)
- Launch the Antenna Genius V4 utility.
- While running AG v4.1.1 or later:
- Click the “gear” icon and select “Device Settings”
- Click “Advanced Options” and select “Export Configuration”
- Browse to your Documents folder, enter “AGv4” for the name, and click “Save.” It will save the settings as a “.json” file
- Then left-click "Antennas" and document which bands each port is set for.
- Go to "Advanced Settings" and click “Factory Reset.”. The AG will reboot
- Power cycle the AG. (Pull the power cord and wait 30 seconds, then plug it back in.)
- The AG v4 utility should show the AG is not configured. Click the “gear” icon and choose “Upgrade Firmware.”
- Browse to the folder “C:\Program Files (x86)\4O3A Signature\Antenna Genius”
- NOTE: AG v3 is in the “Antenna Genius” folder while AG v4 is in the “Antenna Genius Utility” folder. You want to browse to the “Antenna Genius” folder
- Select “agfw_3_1_5.gsf” and click “Open”
- Click “Upgrade Firmware”
- Once complete, close the AG v4 utility
- Power cycle the Antenna Genius again
- Open the Antenna Genius v3 utility (there will be two Antenna Genius icons on your desktop if you have both v3 and v4 installed)
- Click on the Antenna Genius and select "Connect."
- Click on "SO2R"
- Click the "gear" icon and select "Configure Flex Radio(s)" to configure a connection to a 6000 series radio.
- Click on the Flex Radio on the right then click on the top right arrow in the middle to select the Flex for port A.
- Repeat for port B by clicking the right arrow on the bottom.
- Click “Save & Reboot”
- Once connected, click the “gear” icon and choose “Configure Device”
- Enter the names you want for antenna ports 1 through 8.
- Click the icon to the right for each antenna port and select the band or bands for that antenna. (NOTE – Selecting None will allow manual selection of that antenna.)
- Once done, click “Save & Reboot”
- IMPORTANT – You can configure custom band segments. But, do not allow one band segment to end with the exact frequency of the next segment. For example – you have two antennas for 75/80 meters. For 80 meters you can select 3300000 to 3700000 under Custom 1 rename it to 75 meters and set it for 3700001 to 4000000. Note the 80-meter segment ends at 3.7 MHz and the 75-meter segment starts at 3.700001 MHz. (1 Hz higher). If you have segments start and end on the same frequency or overlap, the Antenna Genius will not operate correctly.
- When done with band segments click “Done” then click on “Save & Reboot.”
Your Antenna Genius should now be functional with Firmware Version 3.1.5
