The upgrade from v4.1.5 to v4.2.18 is more involved than normal due to the major changes, such as:
- a complete revamp of the DAX
- Changing SmartSDR, DAX, and CAT to 64-bit programs
- adopting a completely different installer (which will make maintenance, updates, and installation easier in the future.)
A few important notes:
1) The new DAXv2 works a little differently than the old DAX.
- The new DAX RX Streaming Indicators will only turn from YELLOW to BLUE when you have selected that DAX Channel in the Slice Flag of SmartSDR for Windows, or in the Slice MENU of a Maestro or M-Model Front Panel.
- The new DAX RX Streaming Indicators will only turn from BLUE to GREEN and show activity when you actually have a program (Like WSJT-X) connected to it and it is streaming RX audio.
- The new DAX TX Streaming indicator will only turn from YELLOW to BLUE when you have enabled the TX DAX button in SmartSDR for Window's "Radio Controls > P/CW" tab, or in the TX MENU of a Maestro or M-Model Front Panel.
- The new DAX TX Streaming indicator will only turn from BLUE to GREEN and show activity when you actually have a program (Like WSJT-X) connected to it and the radio is transmitting and streaming TX audio from DAX.
This is extensively covered in the release notes for the new software release: It is always a good practice to thoroughly read the Release Notes before installing to your computer or updating your radio. This practice can help you avoid a number of problems during and after software/firmware updates.
2) Also, you need to reconfigure the Audio Input and Audio Output sections of your Digital Programs to reflect the new DAX Device Names before they will work.
