Overview
The PTT Override setting lets you choose which audio source a hardware PTT puts on the air. It covers all three hardware PTT inputs: RCA or footswitch, ACC, and the mic jack. PTT Override is disabled by default.

| Enabled | The last used analog mic input, even while DAX or remote TX audio is the selected source. |
PTT Override has no effect when an analog input is already the selected source.
When to Use PTT Override
Enable PTT Override if you run DAX for digital modes but want a hardware PTT (such as a footswitch) to put your microphone on the air instead of the DAX stream.
Important — change in default behavior: Before v4.3, hardware PTT always switched to the analog mic input. Starting with v4.3, the default leaves your selected audio source alone. If you relied on the earlier behavior, enable PTT Override to restore it.
Under multiFLEX, PTT Override applies only when the client asserting local PTT is also the transmitting client.
Setting PTT Override in SmartSDR for Windows
- Navigate to Settings > Radio Setup > Phone/CW.
- Select PTT Override to enable it. Clear it to disable.
Setting PTT Override in Maestro and M-Models
- Navigate to Menu > Phone/CW.
- Set PTT Override to Enabled or Disabled.
