This procedure will help direct you through the process of updating your radio Firmware using SmartSDR for Mac:
1) I recommend that you update all of your radios and computers to the Latest Version of SmartSDR v4.2.18 so that all the equipment on your network or in your SmartLink account is on the same page and all have the same "bug fixes."
2) If you wish to upgrade the radio using the Mac:
- Turn the radio OFF, wait a minute, and turn it back on.
- Connect to the radio with SmartSDR for Mac
- Click on the "Radio" Menu Item at the top of the Mac Window
- Click on "FLEX-xxxx Settings" to open up the Settings Menu
- Click on the "Radio" Tab
- Click on "Check for Firmware Update"
- Click on "Refresh List"
- Scroll down to the bottom and find the appropriate v4.2.18 for your radio: (Flex-6x00 or Flex-8x00 Series)
- Click on the desired Version of Firmware.
- Click "Download" to download that version to the computer's memory (Click the other one also, if you will be installing on two different radios)
- Wait for the installer files to download.
- Highlight the one you need to use to update your radio.
- Click INSTALL
- Wait for the radio to be updated.
3) After the radio has finished upgrading: COLD BOOT the radio:
- Disconnect from SmartSDSR for Mac
- Turn the radio OFF
- Wait a minute
- Remove the power cable from the back of the radio
- Wait 30 seconds
- Return the power cable to the radio and turn on the power supply (If it is off)
- Wait a minute
- Turn the Radio ON
When the Radio is finished booting up, you should be good to go.
4) Repeat this procedure for each radio in your network or SmartLink Account.
